Sheila had an on and off again relationship with yoga for about 10 years, only practicing using books, or at schools or gyms. After she graduated from Texas A&M in 2012, her original plans for law school fell through and she felt utterly lost. She started practicing yoga again, but this time at a studio and hasn’t stopped practicing since then. Through yoga she has learned to cope with the hardships of life and become a better person while improving both her physical health and overall well-being. In April 2015, she received her 200 Hour Vinyasa Certification at Cherry Blossom Yoga under Sara Turk in the hopes of becoming a yoga teacher and sharing the joy and healing of yoga with others.
Sheila enjoys many different styles of yoga, but her favorites are Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga and Vinyasa Flow. As such, her classes usually have an eclectic flow, but are still based heavily on Ashtanga, having drawn influences from her training at Cherry Blossom as well as workshops attended from notable Ashtangis such as Doug Swenson, Andrew Eppler, and David Williams.
When Sheila isn’t practicing or teaching yoga, she works as a substitute teacher at elementary and middle schools in the Cy Fair district and as a reading tutor. In her spare time she enjoys Zumba, working out at the gym, and spending time with her friends and adorable dog, Max!
